John Deere

John Deere is a unique – no other make of farm machinery has survives, so long in the same business.

This book tells the fascinating story of how the company’s history unfolded. How in the 1830s, a blacksmith named John Deere perfected a polished steel plough that worked so well in the sticky soil of Illinois that he was able to make a fortune, branch out into other tools and found a company that by the turn of the century was building 200,000 implements a year.
